Sporos

Sporos is a simple puzzle game where you need to infect some cells with the sporos you get for each level. The cells are placed on a board (more like plane, since there is a neon theme) and form various shapes. It is up to the player to position the sporos in order to infect everything. The game is quite simple, has hundreds of levels to play, but this also makes it very repetitive and may lose the player’s interest easily. The gameplay is not helping out either.

The game has a calm, relaxing electronic-space music which binds well with the neon feel. The blue may have been over used, but it still looks good.

Each level can be completed with one, two or three stars. This all depends on  how many times you rearrange your sporos. The problem here is that you can experiment until you find the correct layout, then replay the level and place everything correctly and still get 3 stars. For the lazy players who want hints all the time, the app allows you to purchase those for $0.99 for 30 hints. Why would anyone be paying to get the solution for a game is beyond me, but they have the option to do so nonetheless.

In terms of length, the basic free version comes with 300 levels. There are 3 more packs you can purchase, each with 300, 200 and 200 levels respectively. Two of those come with mutated cells, that make the levels more complex. Also, purchasing any pack will remove all the ads, which is always helpful.

Conclusion

Sporos is a nice game but not very entertaining and although very long even without the additional packs it doesn’t have that retention effect.
